Pearls, Lab-Grown Diamonds and a Bird on a Rock: The Jewelry That Defined the 2026 Emmys

Gowns get most of the attention at the Emmys. On September 14, the jewelry was just as telling. Across the red carpet, stylists chose heritage pearls, a lab-grown diamond centerpiece, a six-figure Tiffany bracelet and a noticeable return of the choker. Together they showed how varied fine jewelry has become.

Zendaya’s pearls, made young

For Zendaya’s crystal-covered custom Prada, stylist Law Roach chose Mikimoto diamonds and pearls, Marie Claire reports. She also wore a Rolex Lady Datejust and her Jessica McCormack engagement ring. Roach said the point was renewal:

“I loved the idea of taking something as timeless as Mikimoto pearls and making them feel fresh, modern and young.” — Law Roach, via Marie Claire

This is a notable choice. Pearls worn with a nearly sheer gown signal a move away from the idea of pearls as conservative. Pairing them with a classic Rolex reinforced a mix of traditional and current.

Selena Gomez’s Tiffany suite

Selena Gomez skipped a necklace. According to Marie Claire, she wore Tiffany & Co. gold-and-diamond drop earrings, contrasting cocktail rings and a $175,000 bracelet from the Bird on a Rock line with her custom gold-beaded Louis Vuitton mermaid gown. Marie Claire describes Tiffany as “the storied brand behind her wedding day bling,” and notes her marquise-cut engagement ring by Abril Barret. Leaving the neckline bare put the focus on her wrist and hands.

Dakota Fanning’s lab-grown centerpiece

The most revealing jewelry decision of the night may have been a swap. Marie Claire reports that Dakota Fanning and stylist Samantha McMillen replaced the original pearl choker on her Carolina Herrera Resort 2027 look with a $35,000 lab-grown diamond necklace from Swarovski. It has three octagon-cut stones totaling 19.46 carats.

That is a substantial carat weight, worn on one of television’s most visible red carpets. In IOM’s view, the choice shows how quickly lab-grown stones have become part of high-profile styling. The debate between natural and lab-grown diamonds continues, but on the red carpet the visual effect is what counts.

Chokers and other statements

Other notable choices included:

  • Grace Gummer, in Dior by Jonathan Anderson, wore a 1920s-inspired diamond choker (Marie Claire).
  • Florence Pugh paired her lilac Vivienne Westwood gown with a pink-and-green crystal-and-diamond choker (The Zoe Report).
  • Jessica Williams chose Jessica McCormack jewelry with her Honor gown (The Zoe Report).
  • Sarah Michelle Gellar wore Gabriel & Co. diamonds with a bright pink draped dress (The Zoe Report).

What the carpet tells jewelry buyers

Four trends stood out. Pearls are being worn in a younger, fresher way. Wrist stacks and rings can take the place of a necklace. Chokers are having a moment. Lab-grown diamonds now appear alongside heritage names. For collectors, IOM’s advice is the same as ever: buy what you will wear, and choose pieces, like Gomez’s Tiffany bracelet or Zendaya’s pearls, that will still look right long after the event.
