For London’s art calendar, October is Frieze month, and the fair has now laid out what will be at stake beyond the sales. On September 11, the fair announced the funds, prizes and curatorial programs for Frieze London and Frieze Masters 2026, which run from October 14 to 18 in The Regent’s Park. Tickets are already on sale, and Deutsche Bank returns as headline partner, according to Frieze.
The initiatives, in Frieze’s words, connect “galleries with arts organizations, private foundations and public institutions,” and their effect is practical: works bought at the fair move into British museum collections, and emerging artists gain exhibitions and cash.
Acquisition funds
- Contemporary Art Society Collections Fund. Marks its tenth year of supporting acquisitions for UK museums.
- A new fund for women artists. The Women’s Art Collection and the Female Artists of the Mougins Museum introduce a fund to acquire a work by a woman artist not currently represented in a public UK collection.
- Dasha Shenkman Focus Fund. New this year, it supports museum acquisitions of work by emerging artists in Frieze London’s Focus section, with Abbot Hall in Kendal as the first recipient institution.
- Arts Council Collection Frieze Acquisition Fund. Returns for a fourth year, focusing on early- to mid-career or under-recognized UK-based artists.
- Spirit Now London Acquisition Prize. In its fifth edition, it will help the Photography Centre at V&A South Kensington acquire expanded photographic work by women artists.
Prizes with real money attached
- Fluxus-CPGA Prize: recognizes a French or France-based living artist at Frieze London; the £15,000 award is shared equally between artist and gallery.
- Nicoletta Fiorucci Foundation Prize: a £10,000 prize shared by artist and gallery, highlighting practices that question commodification and display in the Focus section.
- Frieze London Galleries Stand Prize: £5,000 to the gallery with the most ambitious or well-researched presentation, to be awarded at the fair on Wednesday, October 14.
- Camden Art Centre Emerging Artist Award: offers a selected Focus artist a major London exhibition.
Investing in curators
Frieze and Art Fund will offer 20 fully funded places, ten international and ten UK-based, on the Art Fund Curators Programme. The Frieze x Deutsche Bank Emerging Curators Fellowship, a year-long paid placement for rising curators of Black or global majority heritage, will be hosted this year by South London Gallery, which receives a £45,000 grant covering the fellow’s salary.

For collectors and visitors, the Stand Prize makes opening day, October 14, the moment to see which gallery the jury rewards. Frieze London and Frieze Masters run side by side in The Regent’s Park through October 18, and the full list of funds suggests the fair wants to be judged not only on sales but on what it leaves in public collections afterward.
