Saving Cedar Makes Its IndieWood Film Festival Debut in Hollywood

The coming-of-age comedy, written and directed by C.G. Ryche, was selected in the Best Short Film category and screened before a packed audience at the TCL Chinese Theatre.

Saving Cedar made its IndieWood Film Festival debut on Sunday, September 13, with a screening before a packed audience at Hollywood’s TCL Chinese Theatre.

Writer and director C.G. Ryche attended the premiere alongside Bill Bogner and the film’s ensemble of emerging young actors: Avison Kate Aust, Daniel Cobden, Kyra Crandell, Isabella Davies, Emilia C. Fogel, Daphne Huang, Margarita Latyk, Tiani Jin and Lucy Shin. The team walked the red carpet before joining guests for the screening.

Selected in the Best Short Film category, Saving Cedar follows a group of students who join forces to save their struggling performing arts school.

As they confront the challenge, the students discover that individual talent can only take them so far. Teamwork, perseverance and character become central to a story about friendship, personal growth and the importance of community.

The IndieWood premiere also marked a milestone for the film’s young cast. For Emilia C. Fogel, the event represented her first red-carpet appearance.

The Hollywood screening brought the cast and director together for an evening celebrating independent filmmaking and a new generation of emerging talent.
