For Spring/Summer 2027, the Filipino-American designer transformed an imagined faraway celebration into an opulent study of color, craftsmanship, and movement.
Oliver Tolentino has built his international reputation on a distinctly glamorous vision of couture-one shaped by refined silhouettes, vivid color, meticulous handwork, and the artisanal traditions of his Filipino heritage. Based in Beverly Hills, with an atelier in Manila, the Filipino-American designer has dressed red carpets and presented his work around the world. This season, he brought that vision to New York Fashion Week with Gilded Dreams, his first solo presentation on the NYFW stage.
Presented at Annex 417 and produced by F/ROW Productions, Tolentino’s Spring/Summer 2027 collection began with an evocative premise: a faraway party first encountered in a dream. On the runway, that fantasy materialized as a luminous procession of sculpted corsetry, fluid draping, saturated jewel tones, and gowns designed to command attention.
Drama in Proportion and Detail
Drama arrived through proportion and detail. Detachable capes and boleros framed the body with theatrical volume, while structured corsets brought definition to richly textured brocade ensembles. Sequined column gowns shimmered beneath cascading beadwork, and layers of tulle were softened with dimensional floral appliqué. Elsewhere, Art Deco-inspired embellishments introduced a graphic precision that contrasted with the collection’s more romantic gestures.
Tolentino was particularly persuasive when working with movement. Mermaid silhouettes traced the body before opening into sweeping hems, catching the light with each step. Draped fabrics appeared weightless, while intricate surface treatments gave even the most fluid pieces a sense of depth and ceremony.
The Discipline of the Atelier
Yet beneath the spectacle was the discipline of the atelier. The collection’s hand-finished details and artisan techniques reflected Tolentino’s Philippine heritage without reducing it to a decorative reference. Instead, craftsmanship became the foundation of the collection’s luxury-a dialogue between cultural tradition, modern construction, and the designer’s instinct for unabashed glamour.
“Seeing Gilded Dreams come alive on the runway was incredibly meaningful. The collection is an invitation to celebrate beauty, confidence, and imagination. Every look carries its own sense of drama and joy, but together they tell one luminous story.”

Gilded Dreams, Look by Look

One Luminous Story
That sense of cohesion ultimately gave the collection its strength. While every look offered its own couture moment, Gilded Dreams never lost sight of its central fantasy: dressing for a celebration unconstrained by place, time, or convention.
For his first solo New York Fashion Week show, Tolentino did not arrive quietly. He presented a confident expression of his design language-romantic, technically accomplished, and unapologetically radiant.
